RE: Cedar Point Ohio & Surrounding Area

Season pass holder here! Have a great time at CP!! This year seems to be a very light year for crowds at CP. I have been several times already, and on different days of the week. The crowds have been VERY light. I mean like walk on most rides. (with the exception of the VERY popular roller coasters.) Start in the back of the park with the Maverick, Magnum, Dragster. The Millennium will also have a long wait. Just get a snack or drink and enjoy it while in line. Multitasking!! :B Try to eat at off times as well. I have noticed this year that staff is low at the food counters. This makes the lines longer and s-l-o-w-e-r.

RE: West Branch S.P., Ohio

We've camped there three times, and have had a blast every time. The camp hosts/rangers do a great job of runnig programs for the kids. There is TONS of hiking, a lake with a swimming beach. You can also drive to the boat docks and rent a pontoon boat for the afternoon. My kids are still talking about that day. One of their favorites! You won't be disappointed. The only trouble we had was our site was very shady, and it rained. Well the mud couldn't dry up because of all the trees. DH went to town, bought cheap mulch at the gas station and put it down over the mud. Made the whole weekend much more enjoyable.

RE: Mohican/Loudonville area Ohio

If I'm not mistaken, the SP's here in Ohio have some sites that are first-come first-served. Not reservable. Could you call them and see how many they have available for the weekend, then get there REAL early? We did this at East Harbor SP on Memorial Day weekend. Worked out great! The website looks like it's full, but we had no trouble getting a site.

RE: help, please

It's true that blocking out the window is the WORST thing you can do. However, staring out the side window is also bad. They need to sit so the front windshield is available. Not necessarily always staring out, but they need it for "reference". Find a fixed spot, usually the horizon. Your brain needs to make sense of the motion that the body feels. If I were THAT sick in a car ride, I'd take the dramamine. It works wonders for me. I get motion sickness STANDING ON THE DOCK! LOL! I'd MUCH rather have a little drowsiness than be that miserable on a car ride. You didn't mention that they've tried it or not. Good luck!

RE: whats your favorite ohio state park

You've been to all our favorites except West Branch. Hiking, swimming, boating, biking. We went to the marina and rented a pontoon boat and spent the afternoon on the lake. It was wonderful! Most of the SPs we've stayed at have outdoor movie night. Our kids really get a kick out of that. Our favorites: In no particular order East Harbor Mohican West Branch Hocking Hills Salt Fork Maumee Bay

RE: Laundry Etiquette

Yes, the laundromat guy was a jerk! :M He was a jerk for yelling at you, and inconsiderate for putting you in that position of HAVING to move his laundry. I'm sorry this happened to you, hopefully you'll meet nicer people next time you need to do laundry at a campground. The other part that surprises me is where you stood for five minutes getting yelled at! What's up with that? You certainly didn't owe him any explanations, and his rudeness continued to keep you from your laundry. You would have been justified to tell him to stop speaking to you in that tone, and then get on with your laundry! You were waaaaayyyy nicer to him than I would have been.

RE: Bake Potatoes

I read somewhere once that you don't want to wrap your potatoes in foil. This actually "steams" the insides instead of roasting it. Ever since then, we have rubbed ours with Olive Oil, and seasoned the outside with coarse sea salt. Put them right on the rack of the grill. It usually takes about 45minutes to an hour. Of course turning them occassionally. YUM!!

Great cooking website!

I apologise if this has been posted before, but I just found it. www.thepioneerwomancooks.com She has some AWESOME recipes! Tons of pictures and great descriptions of her cooking methods. Last night I made "Marlboro Man's Favorite Sandwich" OH. MY. GOODNESS. It was awesome! DH loved it too. I think it could be easily adapted made into a camping recipe.

RE: Best campground near Cleveland?

East Harbor SP is about 45 minutes west of Cleveland. Right on Lake Erie. Hiking, fishing and swimming. Beautiful park.

RE: Campground near Longaberger Factory in Ohio

You should also build your own basket while you're there. It's a neat experience. They pair you up with an expert basket weaver and you get to make your own! Have fun!

RE: Help for Disney park-to-park transportation, please

I agree with the others. We just returned from there in November. Drive yourself. The signs in Disneyworld are fantastic. You won't get lost. One of the things that takes away the magic of Disney is waiting in line for those darned busses!
